Healthcare volunteer programs can be challenging to create, maintain and grow for many reasons, including high rates of volunteer turnover, lack of resources, poor visibility within the organization or institution being served, and inefficient program design.
D’vorah has designed, managed and grown volunteer programs in healthcare settings through much of her career, with many of her programs earning recognition for their effectiveness, efficiency, and high rates of volunteer satisfaction. She has worked with both community and academically-affiliated hospitals, including Stanford University Medical Center. D’vorah uses her experience as a registered nurse to create robust volunteer programs that have positive impact on HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) scores, while providing meaningful service and learning opportunities for volunteers. She consults and presents on healthcare volunteer issues and opportunities nationally and internationally, with a focus on both caring for historically underserved communities and opening access to health care careers for members of these communities via healthcare volunteering. She specializes in working with managers and directors to identify novel and significant volunteer opportunities that are typically overlooked or not considered when a program is being designed. She is a Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS), and is active with state and national level healthcare volunteer advisory committees.
